In a remote off-grid area of South America with unstable power access, I led the design and installation of a residential solar energy system. The solution prioritized affordability and longevity, ensuring the household had a reliable, self-sufficient electricity supply.
Core System Components
- Solar Array: Durable monocrystalline PV panels chosen for optimal performance in extreme high-altitude and high-heat environments.
- Energy Storage: A 15kWh lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery bank, delivering prolonged backup during cloudy or rainy weather.
- Power Conversion & Control: A 10kW solar inverter with built-in MPPT charge control, ensuring efficient DC-to-AC conversion for household appliances.
- Mounting System: Custom-designed, corrosion-resistant aluminum roof racks with adjustable angles to maximize sunlight capture in low-light months.
Deployment Process
- Site Assessment: Evaluated roof strength and potential obstructions to identify the best panel placement.
- System Installation:
- Mounted solar panels using heavy-duty brackets for wind and storm protection.
